How it works
Natural astaxanthin supports immune cell mitochondria, which produce energy for immune cell activity, proliferation, and antibody production. Natural astaxanthin also helps support both adaptive and innate immune systems, redox homeostasis, and a healthy inflammation response for healthy immune function.
The secretory immune system in saliva and in the gut is primarily driven by an antibody called secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA). This antibody helps to surround foreign pathogens and exclude them from binding to healthy cells. In both trained and untrained individuals, studies have shown that AstaReal® Astaxanthin helped support sIgA levels.
AstaReal® Astaxanthin may also help support healthy gut bacteria, like Akkermansia, involved in immunological homeostasis at the gut mucosa, and in supporting a healthy gut barrier function.
