Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, leading and directing resources to achieve maintenance objectives and performance standards to maximize equipment uptime and reliability while minimizing maintenance and repair costs. This position also remains in a hands-on role.
General
- Seeking a Facility Maintenance Manager that can mentor and grow the team
- Manages maintenance processes using Key Performance Indicators to ensure productivity and reliability goals are consistently achieved
- Manages Maintenance organization including staffing levels and general job duties, as needed to meet plant and department goals
- Ensures that safety program is prioritized and complied with, including but not limited to lock out/tag out, safe work planning, MOC, and safety meetings. Ensures accident investigations are conducted and that action items are completed timely.
- Ensures quality policies SOPs are followed
Key Job Functions
- Leads the Maintenance Superintendents to train, direct, develop, supervise, and evaluate
- maintenance teams to increase productivity and improve manufacturing costs in a 24/7 operating
- environment
- Oversee the systematic definition and implementation of preventive, predictive and essential care
maintenance processes in pursuit of optimization - Sets direction and vision for attaining a Planned and Scheduled work environment, with a minimum
of reactive work - Improves maintenance work efficiency wherever feasible, ensuring reliable plant operations while
prolonging the economic life of plant assets at optimal cost - Manages the development of best practice documentation of maintenance work
- Manages the tracking of performance data, leading to identifying equipment and procedural
- improvement opportunities
- Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions
- Develop standardized programs that influence the selection of materials, equipment, and spare parts
- Maintains historical data, analyzes, and monitors key equipment efficiencies and parameters against design
- Assists operations with troubleshooting and suggests measures for improvement of manufacturing to increase productivity and improve manufacturing costs
- Manages monthly and yearly maintenance budgets to ensure cost controls; implements KPIs to
track internal measurements - Oversee the planning and execution of the plant’s major outages, including Total Plant Outages, and area outages
- Participates in the overall capital planning for continuous improvement of the mill’s competitive
position. - Directs the management of maintenance projects within budget
- Supports working cross functionally with other departments, especially between engineering and
maintenance, to ensure clear communication and proper processes are in place - Strong planning and organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
Food Safety and Security
- Responsible for upholding the principles of the Company’s food safety certification program.
- Responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to
management for appropriate action.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Position directly supervises Maintenance Mechanics and Industrial Electricians in accordance with
company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
Position Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Management, or other related. Work experience considered related to discipline.
- Minimum 15 total years of experience in industrial maintenance management
- A history of strong leadership, people development, deep practical engineering or
maintenance knowledge and a proven track record for timely project delivery, project
management, and cost control. - Background and proven expertise in application of top-quartile maintenance practices,
advanced troubleshooting, and problem-solving methods. - Demonstrated ability to bring knowledge and creativity to the position, and to have the discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental processes
- Knowledge of business and financial concepts that support low-cost, world-class
manufacturing. - Strong planning and organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written
communication skills. - Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office suite and experience with SAP. Strong
Excel Spreadsheet, PPT, Maintenance management software, Preventive maintenance
management. - Nutraceutical experience a plus.
- Electrical license a plus.
Skills and Abilities
Education
- Associate’s degree (two-year college or technical school) in Maintenance
- Mechanics Technology or closely related discipline; or equivalent combination of work experience and vocational training.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Operations Management,
- Business or closely related discipline, preferred.
Experience
- 8 plus years of relevant and progressive maintenance experience.
- 4 plus years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferred.
- Experience in project management, preferred.
- Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance methods and
techniques, preferred.
Computer Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, Proven Excel (Intermediate) Gantt,
- tables, Drop downs, VLOOKUP, Conditional formatting …
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS),
preferred. Waste water computer system management
Certifications & Licenses
- Boiler Certified a plus
- Licensed electrician a plus
Other Requirements
- Ability to work flexible days and hours to support business needs
